Maureen Gallace is an American painter based in New York City. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, she received her BFA from The Hartford Art School, University of Hartford in 1981 and her MFA from Rutgers University in 1983. Her work consists of intimately sized landscapes, often depicting houses and beaches without the presence of people. Drawing inspiration from the rural New England landscape, Gallace utilizes a process of careful observation and omission to arrive at streamlined representations.
