She received her artistic training at several prestigious institutions including the Boston Museum of Fine Art, National Academy of Design, Art Students League of New York, and the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland.
McKenzie studied under influential artists such as Robert Brackman, Daniel Greene, and Burton Silverman, shaping her artistic foundation.

McKenzie is renowned for her realist paintings of contemporary figures. Her work focuses on capturing the essence of everyday life and human experience.

She authored “A Painterly Approach,” published by Watson-Guptill Publications in 1987, demonstrating her expertise and commitment to art education.
