Take your time. You can change any answer; the price in your order card follows each choice.
1 Step one of four
Which size would you like?
These sizes keep the proportions of the original painting. The drawing shows your choice on a wall, above a two-metre sofa.
Or give your own measurements
Pick from our preset sizes that match the artwork's original proportions.
Type the width and the height you need, to fit your frame or your wall. This is hand-painted, so for a size with a different shape the artist can paint a bit more around the picture, or cut a bit — you choose. We send you a digital mockup to approve before the painting starts. The picture shown on this page does not show the real result — only the mockup does.

Professional assembly required - this is not a DIY product.
The kit must be assembled and the canvas stretched by an experienced professional framer, using wood glue (not supplied), a canvas stretching plier and clamps to hold the bars square while the glue dries. Incorrect assembly or uneven canvas tension can permanently damage the artwork and is not covered by our warranty.
All solid wood bars are included, precisely cut to size.
Assembled with the screws provided, plus wood glue for the corner joints, which is not supplied and must be sourced by your framer.
Professional tools are required and not included: a canvas stretching plier (tensioner) and clamps to hold the bars square while the glue dries.
Important:
The corner joints require wood glue, the bars must be held with clamps until the glue is fully dry, and tightening the canvas on the assembled frame requires a canvas stretching plier. None of these are included in the kit. Please arrange an experienced professional framer before ordering this size.

Artist Biography
early life and career
mark gertler, a british painter of figure subjects, portraits, and still-life, was born on december 9, 1891, in spitalfields, london. his early life and relationship with dora carrington were the inspiration for gilbert cannan's novel mendel. gertler's forename was anglicised from "marks" to "mark" in 1896, when his family joined his father in london. gertler showed signs of a great talent for drawing from an early age. he enrolled in art classes at regent street polytechnic in 1906 but was forced to drop out due to poverty. in 1908, he began working as an apprentice at clayton & bell, a stained glass company, while attending evening classes at the polytechnic.rise to prominence and notable works
gertler's career took off when he was placed third in a national art competition in 1908. he then enrolled at the slade school of art in london, where he became a contemporary of notable artists like paul nash, edward wadsworth, and sir stanley spencer. gertler's patrons included lady ottoline morrell, who introduced him to walter sickert, the leader of the camden town group. his success as a painter of society portraits was short-lived due to his temperamental manner and devotion to advancing his work according to his own vision, leading to personal frustration and poverty.- still life with self portrait, a painting showcasing gertler's unique style, can be found on ArtsDot.
- other notable works include the basket of fruit, peaches and green bottle, and violin case and flowers, all of which can be viewed on mark gertler's page on ArtsDot.
