Southern Plains Indian Museum (A.2022.01.01)This mural depicts Arapaho warriors stealing horses from Ute warriors.The mural was painted by Allan Houser specifically for the Southern Plains Indian Museum. It was commissioned in 1949. It is located behind the reception desk, facing the entrance vestibule for visitors to see when they enter the museum. Houser was commissioned by the Indian Arts and Crafts Board to touch up the mural in 1969. In 2013 the National Park Service did conservation work on mural in preparation for the 100th anniversary of Houser
