Early Life and Family Mahonri Mackintosh Young was born on August 9, 1877, in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory. He was the eldest child of Mahonri Moriancumer Young, owner of Deseret Woolen Mill inherited from his father Brigham Young, and Agnes Mackintosh. His grandfather, Brigham Young, served as the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and governor of Utah Territory in 1851.
