Guilherme de Santa-Rita: A Pioneer of Portuguese Futurism Early Life and Education Born: Guilherme Augusto Cau da Costa de Santa-Rita in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1889. He initially studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lisbon before pursuing further education abroad. In 1910, he received a state scholarship to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. While in Paris, he shared a studio with Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso and encountered the burgeoning Futurist movement through Filippo Tommaso Marinetti.
