作品詳細説明

Man Made is a series of hand-axes which combine rocks sourced from the Negev Desert in southern Israel and plastic handles created with 3D printing. These are objects that experiment with multiple shapes of stone-hand and axes, rather than simple recreations of Stone Age tools. The flint hand-axes were three-dimensionally scanned at the Institute of Archaeology in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the handles were printed in VeroGray with support from Stratasys. Man Made is made by effectively combining two methods with a massive time gap in between-the prehistoric skill of knapping and modern 3D printing-to show what humans can create by adding imagination to their concrete and practical actions.
