艺术家简介
José Luis Espert: A Life in Economics, Politics, and Art
José Luis Espert (born November 21, 1961, in Pergamino, Argentina) is a multifaceted figure known for his work as an economist, politician, and artist. While primarily recognized for his contributions to Argentine economic discourse and political life, Espert also possesses a body of work consisting of vintage propaganda-style posters.
Early Life and Education
Espert's early life was shaped by his upbringing in Pergamino, Argentina. He pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He continued his studies with Master’s Degrees in Economics from the University of CEMA (UCEMA) and Statistics from the National University of Tucumán.
Career as an Economist
Espert began his career as a monetary policy analyst, eventually becoming chief economist at various firms including Miguel Ángel Broda and Estudio Arriazu. He founded his own consultancy firm, Estudio Espert, in 2000, providing macroeconomic analysis and asset management services. His expertise led to frequent appearances in media outlets, offering commentary on the Argentine economy.
Political Involvement
Espert's political career gained momentum with his vocal advocacy for economic liberalism. He launched a presidential campaign in 2019, running on a platform of fiscal responsibility and free-market principles. In 2021, he was elected National Deputy for the Province of Buenos Aires, initially representing the Avanza Libertad coalition. His political affiliations have evolved, briefly joining Juntos por el Cambio in 2023 before aligning with La Libertad Avanza in 2024.
Artistic Pursuits
Beyond his economic and political endeavors, José Luis Espert has created a series of vintage-style propaganda posters. These works, such as “Homage to the International Brigades” and “Defend Madrid…”, demonstrate an interest in historical themes and employ Art Deco aesthetics. While not his primary profession, this artistic output adds another dimension to his creative profile.
Influences and Artistic Development
Espert's economic philosophy is rooted in classical liberal thought, drawing inspiration from figures advocating free markets and limited government intervention. His artistic style reflects an appreciation for the visual language of early 20th-century political posters, particularly those associated with social movements and ideological campaigns.
Major Achievements

He continues to be an active figure in Argentine politics as of 2024.
