Despite this early inclination towards engineering, Koster’s innate talent for drawing, nurtured by encouragement from Bartholomeus Johannes van Hove – who served as director of the Royal Academy of Art – steered him toward formal artistic training.       • Early Life & Influences: Koster’s childhood was marked by exposure to the bustling harbor activity of The Hague, sparking a lifelong passion for seafaring and inspiring countless depictions of ships at sea.
