Instead, Sówka sought refuge in the colors of the world above, finding solace in the brick walls of Nikiszowiec, the lush greenery of Silesian gardens, and the simple beauty of the people he loved.

His artistic journey began in earnest as a teenager, driven by an innate admiration for nature. Seeking to refine his raw talent, he studied under the painter Zdzisław Krygowski at a community arts center in Katowice, where he mastered the fundamentals of perspective, composition, and studio drawing. Initially working with tempera, he eventually transitioned to oil, a medium he favored for its permanence and depth.
