He began leading worship at a local church in Ohio, quickly demonstrating a natural ability to connect with congregations through song and a burgeoning talent for crafting emotionally resonant arrangements. This formative experience laid the groundwork for what would become a celebrated career dedicated to creating music that fosters intimate encounters with faith. His early influences were undoubtedly steeped in the rich history of American gospel—artists like Andraé Crouch, Richard Smallwood, and Edwin Hawkins likely served as foundational inspirations, shaping his understanding of harmonic complexity, dynamic arrangements, and the power of collective worship.
