This basketry covered bottle is Karuk (formerly known as Karok) or possibly Yurok in origin. The shape of the bottle is tall and slender, and there is no lid, so the brown glass is visible at the mouth rim. The covering is twined with a half-twist overlay design in bear grass, maidenhair fern stem (black), alder-dyed woodwardia fern (red). The motif is zig-zag pattern running vertically along the height of the bottle wall, with a series of concentric bands up the shoulder and around the neck of the bottle.
