Life and Artistic Beginnings
Born in Brussels, Belgium, Amedée Degreef was the son of the painter Jean-Baptiste Degreef and Thérèse Catherine Plisnier. His depictions of the Soignes Forest, the Escaut, and the North Sea were noted for a lyrical and intimate quality, characterized by a sense of light and a vigorous, sincere technique.
