To refine his technical skills, he attended courses at the Vienna School of Applied Arts in enameling and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wien under Albert Sallak and Hugo Emil Flatz. His professional life was deeply intertwined with the organization of the art community; he was the president of the Marchfelder Vereinigung bildender Künstler and later served as the first president of the newly founded Berufsvereinigung der bildenden Künstler Österreichs.
