The Open Air Museum Series

One of the most significant milestones in Nikic’s repertoire is his evocative Open Air Museum series. This collection, notably featuring works such as his 2016 piece inspired by the Open Air Museum “Old Village” Sirogojno, showcases his mastery in capturing live, cultural moments. In these works, he portrays scenes of authentic folk art and captivating music, such as a poignant cello performance, which bring the atmosphere of the Serbian museum programs to life.

Through this series, Nikic achieves more than mere representation; he captures the very breath of the Sirogojno landscape. His technique allows the viewer to sense the movement of the musicians and the weight of the historical setting, ensuring that the deep cultural heritage of the region is preserved within the frame. This dedication to capturing authentic, living history has established him as a significant voice in contemporary realistic art.
