The Life and Activism of Charles Thomson
Born in Romford, United Kingdom, Charles Thomson is an English artist, poet, and photographer. In the early 1980s, he was a member of The Medway Poets, a punk performance group. In 1999, he co-founded the Stuckism art movement alongside Billy Childish. Thomson also opened the Stuckist International Gallery in Shoreditch between 2002 and 2005. His work has been involved in various exhibitions, including the 2004 Liverpool Biennial and the 2006 Go West show at Spectrum London gallery.

His process frequently begins with spontaneous line drawings made with a black wax crayon in a sketchbook, which are then enlarged onto the canvas. He describes his use of colour as a synthesis of material, emotional, and spiritual experience.
