The Otherworld-Invulnerable Creature was created by Xiang jing in 2011. It is one of the work of the“Otherworld” series ---- which belongs to “Will Things Get Better?” series. This is a non-exist creature inspired by the prototype of horse, deer, and dog. Creating such a spirit animal with beauty from the inside out was Jing’s cherished wish from long time ago. The “invulnerable creature” here in Jing’s piece of art has some sort of connection with the “invulnerable creature” in The Classic of Mountains and Sea. The Classic of Mountains and Sea describes those invulnerable creatures precisely in scientific point of view. However, in Otherworld-Invulnerable Creature, the “invulnerable” constructs a non-exist creature by making use of unscientific words and images. As Zhu zhu indicates in her comment on Otherworld, “By following such direction and being able to self-reflect, one will never have to worry about losing himself/herself. The best part of self will be preserved, just like Xiang Jing’s creation of that invulnerable creature which was derived from legendary, it will ultimately combine with a much more profound spiritual expression.” (written by Mao Zhu)
