The Dual Life of Henri Robbe
Before dedicating himself entirely to the canvas, Henri Robbe pursued a career in music. He studied music in Paris and Italy, eventually serving as a singing teacher in the French capital. He also performed in concerts, interpreting works such as passages from Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti and the romance C'est une coquette by Louis Clapisson. After returning to Belgium in 1840, he continued his work as a singing teacher in Brussels until 1844, the year he began to focus exclusively on painting.
