Gothenburg, 1810. Jacob August Winquist enters the world, a beginning that eventually leads him to the Academy of Arts in Stockholm. He turns his eye toward the Swedish landscape, specifically seeking out the textures of Norrland and Värmland.

In the 1850s and 1860s, his drawings find a home in Franz von Schéele's published work, Wermland in drawings. His presence is felt in the pages of illustrated newspapers across Sweden and Denmark.

The fragments of his life are scattered across significant institutions. His work resides in the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Östersund Museum, and the Nordic Museum. The Jämtland County Library holds parts of his immense portrait collection. Even decades after his death in 1892, his landscapes find new life through reissues in books covering Värmland and Jämtland.
