Early Life and Artistic Training
Munich, 1879. Otto Kopp enters the world in Germany, a city that will become the central axis of his professional life. He develops into a painter and graphic artist, absorbing the technical rigor required by the era's academic traditions. His path toward formal mastery begins in earnest in 1901 when he enters the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München.
The training is intensive and multifaceted. Within the academy's walls, Kopp navigates the drawing school, working under the instruction of Karl Raupp, Franz von Stuck, and Carl von Marr. These mentors provide the foundational discipline of his craft. He does not limit his education to the academy alone; he also seeks out the private painting school of Anton Ažbe. This period of study defines his technical capabilities and establishes the groundwork for his subsequent career in Munich.

Exhibition history marks his presence in the Munich art scene through the Münchener Neue Secession. In 1924, he presented Komposition at the X. Ausstellung der Münchener Neuen Secession. Four years later, the XIV. Ausstellung der Münchener Neuen Secession featured his work IV. Klasse in 1928.
