The Life and Career of Joseph Flaugier
Born in Martigues, France, Joseph Flaugier was a painter who spent much of his life in Spain. After his family moved to Tarragona, he eventually settled in Barcelona in 1773 to study at the school of the Llotja. His early years in the Spanish art scene were marked by various challenges, including being denied access to certain competitions and scholarships for studying in Rome.
