Fernando Fader, a Franciaországrban született argentin festőművész, 1882. április 11-én született Bordeaux városában, Franciaországban. Családja fiatal korában Argentínába költözött, majd később Európába tért vissza, hogy művészeti képzést kapjon. 1900-ban Fader felvételt nyert a rangos müncheni szépművészeti akadémiára, ahol Heinrich von Zügel mentette, a naturalista Barbizon-iskola meghatározó alakja.

Fader korai munkásságát a posztimpressionista stílus jellemezte, amely gyakran tájképeket és vidéki jeleneteket ábrázolt. Első kiállítása a Costa Salonban 1906-ban jelezte sikeres pályafutása kezdetét. Később Martín Malharro és Cesáreo Bernaldo de Quirós nevű kortárs festőkkel együtt alakította létre a Nexus csoportot, amely a posztimpressionizmus népszerűsítését szolgálta Argentínában.
