The Road
A large canvas painting by the South African artist Walter Meyer (1965-2017) painted in 1994. Meyer painted Karoo scenes and had a great affinity for landscapes. Like this painting of a road between Upington and Cape Town, many of his works were desolate and showed the disintegration of society through infrastructure. Short Biography: Carl Walter Meyer was born in Aliwal North in the Eastern Cape in 1965. He studied at the University of Pretoria under Nico Roos in 1983-1984 and in Dusseldorf, West Germany. He became known for his large landscapes. Meyer was found murdered in his home in Upington in December 2017.
