Beata Stankiewicz: Exploring the Boundaries of Perception

Born in Kraków, Poland in 1973, Beata Stankiewicz’s artistic journey began with a formal education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (1992-1998), where she excelled under the mentorship of Professor Józef Lucjan Żąbkowski. This formative experience instilled in her a deep appreciation for traditional painting techniques and established a foundation for her distinctive style – a captivating blend of realism and metarealism that delves into questions of visibility and subjective experience. Her artistic vision solidified after encountering Zbigniew Warpechowski’s work, sparking the collaborative establishment of ‘Mieszkanie23’ gallery with Sebastian Stankiewicz in 2005. For seven years, this intimate space served as a crucible for experimentation and artistic dialogue, hosting approximately forty exhibitions showcasing her paintings alongside performances and lectures.
