Born in the windswept landscape of Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Illingworth “Buck” Kerr was a child of the plains long before he became its most celebrated chronicler. Kerr’s path eventually led him away from the familiar foothills toward the vibrant artistic hubs of the east and across the Atlantic. His studies at the Central Technical School and the Ontario College of Art brought him into the orbit of some of Canada's most formidable creative minds, including Arthur Lismer, Frederick Varley, and J.E.H.
