Simultaneously, Alechinsky embarked on a captivating exploration of Oriental calligraphy, documenting his experiences as correspondent for the Japanese journal Bokubi (the Joy of Ink). Encouraged by Henri Storck and Luc de Heusch, he ventured to Japan in 1955 alongside his wife, producing evocative artworks inspired by this ancient art form.
