Pipes
Indian and Persian imagery factors strongly in Ahmadi’s paintings and drawings. In "Pipes," the exotic animals are based on characters from the Hindu work, Ramayana, including the monkey army of Hanuman. Ahmadi’s use of color and detail reflects her interest in Mughal miniature painting, but the subject matter is clearly contemporary. Ruling figures, whose faces are obscured with red ink, warfare, pipes and ropes evoke the violence she witnesses in the Middle East today.
