Master L. Cz. was an anonymous German Renaissance printmaker active between approximately 1480 and 1505. His extant body of work consists of twelve engravings, ten of which bear his signature. These works demonstrate a stylistic evolution, beginning with earlier, less sophisticated renditions of figures and drapery, and progressing toward a mature, highly skilled technique. In his later period, the artist displayed enormous virtuosity with the burin, creating varied effects of texture and integrating monumental subjects into fully realized landscape settings.
