The Life and Legacy of Jean-François Sablet Born in Morges, Switzerland, Jean-François Sablet emerged from a lineage deeply rooted in the art trade. As the son of Jacob Sablet, a painter and picture dealer, his early education was shaped by the intimate rhythms of a family dedicated to the canvas. This foundational training under his father provided him with the technical groundwork that would eventually lead him to the heart of the Eu
ropean art world. In 1772, seeking to expand his horizons beyond his Swiss origins, Sablet moved to Paris, a transition that would fundamentally alter the trajectory of his career and place him at the epicenter of Neoclassical evolution.
