Sir William Rothenstein (1872–1945): En Pioner inden Britisk Moderne Kunst William Rothenstein var født i Bradford, Yorkshire, England den 29. januar 1872, indtil en dansk-jødisk familie. Hans far emigrerede fra Tyskland for at arbejde i tekstilindustrien i Bradford og gifte sig senere med Bertha Dux, hvilket resulterede i seks børn, hvor William var den femte.
