Bernardo Strozzi, známý také pod přezdívkami il cappuccino či il prete genovese, byl významným italským barokním malířem a rytovníkem, který přišel na svět v roce 1581 v italské Janově. Jeho první krůčky na cestě umění vedly do dílny Cesare Corte, méně známého janovského malíře, pod jehož dohledem Strozzi piloval své schopnosti až do roku 1596. Následně se připojil k dílně Pietra Sorriho, inovativního síonského mistra, který Strozziho umělecký směr sváděl k hlubšímu naturalismu.
