This transition was fueled by extensive studies abroad; Tanaka sought mastery in Brazil, Italy, and Japan, where he worked alongside legendary master ceramicists such as Tsukimura Masahiko and Shimaoka Tatsuzo. These international encounters provided him with a profound grounding in diverse ceramic techniques, allowing him to weave the delicate precision of Japanese pottery-making into the robust, ancestral legacy of pre-Hispanic Peruvian ceramics.
