He studied Oriental languages and theology at the Universidad Complutense in Alcalá de Henares, a background that provided the intellectual weight behind his later arc
hitectural and poetic writings. This scholarly depth meant that when he eventually turned to the visual arts, he brought a theologian's eye to the canvas.
