The son of Jakob Gasser, a master carpenter, he inherited a profound respect for the

While his early years were spent as a woodcarver in Klagenfurt, his ambitions reached far beyond the borders of Carinthia, eventually leading him to the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 1838.
