Life and Family of François Garnier Born in Paris around 1600, François Garnier lived a life deeply embedded in the social and religious fabric of the French capital. He was a member of the Parisian Protestant community, a connection that would shape much of his domestic and professional environment. On August 17, 1620, he entered into a marriage with Marie Gilbert, a woman who brought with her a significant connection to the local art
scene as the widow of the painter and art dealer Nicolas Moillon. The domestic sphere of François Garnier was one of both kinship and professional continuity.
