The Artistic Evolution of Bernd Zimmer Bernd Zimmer is a German painter, photographer, and graphic artist. His professional journey began with an apprenticeship as a publishing bookseller at the Carl Hanser Verlag in Munich, followed by a role as a graphic design assistant at the same institution. After moving to Berlin to work as a book designer for the Klaus Wagenbach publishing house, he pursued studies in philosophy and religious s
tudies at the Freie Universität Berlin. His artistic practice gained momentum following a five-month stay in Mexico and the southern United States. In 1977, he co-founded the artist self-help gallery Galerie am Moritzplatz in Berlin. His diverse body of work includes various series and cycles. His travels to the Sahara inspired desert paintings that explore formal reduction and abstract color field painting. His interest in astronomy…
