A Life in Venetian Tones Born on 28 February 1828 in Gorizia, within the Austrian Empire's Kingdom of Illyria, Antonio Rotta entered a world that would eventually become the primary subject of his brush. His early years led him to the Accademia Reale di Belle Arti of Venice, where he sought instruction under Ludovico Lipparini. This formal training provided the foundation for an artistic path that oscillated between the grandiosity of h
istory and the quiet intimacy of daily life. While his early output focused on Venetian scenes, Rotta did not remain confined to a single genre. He ventured into religious and historical compositions, such as Tiziano istruisce Irene di Spilimbergo.
