His arrival coincided with a period of significant professional recognition, as he was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. This membership marked his integration into the formal artistic circles of the country.
His standing in Stockholm led to several prestigious appointments within the royal household. He was named a court painter and eventually held the position of First Painter to King Gustav IV. These roles placed him at the center of Swedish courtly life, where his ability to capture specific locales and subjects was put to official use. His presence in the capital remained steady until his death in 1816.

His hand moved between the heavy application of oils and the more delicate, translucent layers of gouache. He often turned to watercolour to capture the specific light of the places he had seen.
