ere marked by upheaval – the death of his father, Pieter, and his mother's subsequent conversion to Calvinism prompted a relocation to the Dutch Republic around 1601, likely settling in Utrecht. This period, though shrouded in some mystery regarding his initial artistic training, undoubtedly laid the groundwork for his future mastery.
