Zgodnje življenje in izobraževanje Igor Emmanuilovič Grabar, eden najpomembnejših ruskih postimpresionističnih slikarjev, založnikov, restavratorjev in zgodovinarjev umetnosti, se je rodil 25. marca 1871 v Budimpešti na Madžarskem. Njegova družina, rusinskega porekla, je bila močno usmerjena k ruskemu duhu in kulturi. Oče Emmanuil Hrabar je bil rusinski odvetnik in politik, ki je ohranjal stike z ruskim veleposlaništvom.
