Levyho blízke vzťahy s Marcelom Duchampom ho priviedli k stretnutiu s Manom Rayom a Berenice Abbott, čo mu následne umožnilo nadobudnúť časť osobného archívu Eugène Atgeta. V roku 1927 spoznal umelkyňu a spisovateľku Minu Loy, ktorej dcera Joella Hawéis sa stala jeho manželkou. Po ich rozvode v roku 1942 si Levy v roku 1944 vzal surrealistickú umelkyňu Muriel Streeter.
