His death occurred within the confines of his own studio on the Rue de Bourgogne. A heart condition claimed him, cutting short a career that had already secured him a place within the Société des Artistes Français and the Legion of Honor.

Among them, the artistic and structural legacies continued through his son, the painter Henri Rapin, and his son, the architect Jacques Rapin.
