Under the guidance of instructors like Jacob Jacobs and Nicaise de Keyser, he learned the foundational skills of landscape painting that would define his career. it was his move to Paris that truly expanded his artistic horizons. In France, Van Luppen encountered the influence of the Barbizon School through his studies with Théodore Rousseau.
