Antoine-Sébastien Plamondon: A Pioneer of Quebec Portraiture Early Life and Training Born: 1804 in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Lower Canada (present-day Quebec). Plamondon began his artistic journey at the age of fifteen as an apprentice to Joseph Légaré, a prominent religious painter and restorer.
