Early Life and Artistic Foundations George Agnew Reid emerged from the fertile landscapes of rural Canada West, born in 1860 in Wingham, Ontario – a place that would indelibly shape his artistic vision. His beginnings were far removed from formal training; instead, he was steeped in the rhythms of farm life—a setting he’d later revisit with poignant detail and emotional depth in his paintings.
