    Sir Augustus Wall Callcott, um renomado pintor de paisagens inglês, nasceu em 20 de fevereiro de 1779, em Kensington Gravel Pits, uma vila na borda oeste de Londres. Sua infância foi marcada por uma profunda paixão pela música, o que o levou a cantar no coro da Abadia de Westminster durante vários anos. Mais tarde, ele tornou-se aluno da Royal Academy, onde iniciou sua carreira artística como pintor de retratos sob a tutela de John Hoppner.
