Leopold Pilichowski: Life and Legacy Early Life and Education Leopold Pilichowski was born on March 23, 1869, in Piła near Sieradz in central Poland (some sources cite the village of Zadzin). He began his artistic journey under the guidance of his relative, painter Szmul (Samuel) Hirszenberg, in Łódź.
