Hirohiko Araki: A Biography Early Life and Beginnings Born: June 7, 1960, in Sendai, Japan. Araki grew up with his parents and twin sisters. He credits his sisters’ playful teasing as a catalyst for spending time reading manga, particularly Ai to Makoto.
