A life shaped by light and shadow Germán Gedovius began his years in Mexico City, though his family moved to San Luis Potosí when he was still an infant. At sixteen, he returned to the capital to study at the Academy of San Carlos under Salomé Pina and Rafael Flores. His path took a quiet turn toward Europe when his father sent him to Germany at age twenty. This trip was intended for medical treatment in clinics specializing in deafnes
