Vroege Jaren en Opleiding

  • Gilbert Stuart werd geboren in een familie met Schotse wortels; zijn vader, eveneens Gilbert genoemd, was een uitvinder die de eerste snuiftabakmolen in Rhode Island vestigde.
  • Zijn artistieke talent kwam al op jonge leeftijd tot uiting, waarbij hij zelfs als kind al over indrukwekkende vaardigheden beschikte.
